Biography
Dr. Goodwin received his Ph.D. in Biology with a specialty in vertebrate paleontology from the University of Kansas. After completing his PhD, he taught for 4 years at Loma Linda University before joining the faculty at Andrews University in 1994. Professionally, Dr. Goodwin specializes in the study of fossil and modern ground-dwelling squirrels (see Current Research below). He also has a broad interest in the relationships between scientific study and Christian faith. He teaches a wide variety of biology courses, as well as courses in paleontology and geology.
Current Research or Professional Activities
Active research interests in the Goodwin lab include the following:
-Systematics, historical dynamics, and paleobiology of fossil ground-dwelling squirrels.
-Growth increments in rodent incisors as biorecorders of hibernation and other life history events.
-Taphonomy of microvertebrate assemblages.
